Game Play
Game Play
Liquid Courage is a popular guild because we value ALL aspects of game play, hence we value ALL kinds of players. From leisure play to disciplined raiding to competitive PvP, we offer many different opportunities for our guildies to connect with like-minded players in a friendly, social atmosphere.
Our guild has been labeled “casual” in the past, but that term isn’t accurate. The dictionary definition of casual is accidental, happening by chance, without a plan, careless, uncertain. That is not Liquid Courage! We have a purposeful direction that involves effort to direct. Yet, we are liberal. We want our members to have the freedom to choose to play the game the way that brings the most enjoyment to their lives.
CHARACTER LEVELING
Liquid Courage is the home many alts! We encourage lower level characters by contributing Up For Grabs, volunteering to help them through level-appropriate instances and including all levels in our Social Event activities.
PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER
Liquid Courage has active PvPers. We are in the process of organizing this fun and rewarding element of World of Warcraft.
SOCIAL EVENTS
The guild strategy for Liquid Courage is ambitious and inclusive. Our goal is for the guild itself to be as entertaining as the MMO’s we play, and for people of all walks of life to come together to share a special common experience. Our friendships in and out of game are what make our guild successful.
Liquid Courage has many different groups of players representing a broad level of skill, interest, and commitment to the games we play together. There are crafters, solo adventurers, hard core raiders, social butterflies, item collectors, explorers, auctioneers, organizers, and leaders. It’s a great mix!
The role of the Social Events Team includes thinking like game designers in bringing all these people together, for fun that coincides with advancing our guild overall. We think about the question “what is it that is going to keep a particular player in our guild striving to win the game, and do it with us?”
There’s a goal amongst game designers to achieve “10/10/10/10?. It means that ideally you want experiences that hook people in the first 10 seconds of game play, and then again in the next 10 minutes, and again with extensions after 10 hours, and with new stuff again in 10 days, and so on.
And so, Liquid Courage has dedicated an entire team of people to helping identify and promote events that bring people together, to organize events that tap into the various things our players like or wish they could do, and consistently make our guild simply more entertaining than any other guild.
Vision: Social events are recognized for strengthening our Liquid Courage guild by bringing people together, deepening friendships, promoting a culture of fun, and providing special experiences that make all the MMO’s we play more rewarding.
Mission: The Social Events team proposes, plans, and organizes broad-based events consistently for guild members that are fun and accessible to many different types of players, inside and outside of World of Warcraft.
Some Social Events we’ve enjoyed:
Epic Flying Mount Lottery
Supermodel Competition
Exporer Competition
Bookworm Competition
Stranglethorn Vale Zone Focus
Gnekkid Gnome Race
Zoologist Competion
Blackwing Lair Field Trip
Molten Core Field Trip
Real life get-togethers in WA state and Canada
END GAME CONTENT
Our guild Mission includes participating in all the various elements of the game that WOW offers. One of these elements is what we call End Game Content.
The key word in our Mission is ‘successful.’ In the context of End Game Content we believe in a team approach for successfully progressing through the various instances. The team concept has been working well for us because the members learn how to play together and are on the same page as it concerns strategies, schedules, etc…
It is important to note that end game content is just one element of WOW. It is a popular one and one that is ongoing in our guild but as a guild we will never become a raiding only guild or anything approaching hard core in nature. Because raiding involves so many people, managing and coordinating it can get difficult. So the policies have been put together to assist with this while attempting to keep decision making non-subjective and as fair to all guild members as possible. There are two parts to each policy. One is the creation process of a team; the second is the various requirements that apply to team members only.
We currently have a few 10-man teams and one 25-man team. See the forums for further details.
